poArt: art that speaks

_________________________________

Hello and welcome. Some artists might add poetry to their paintings, or even allow poetry to inspire a painting. These poArt have a philosophical modality in which the painting and poem are purposely done together in the same sitting. The power of expression inspires! Allow words to connect colors and form. See something more in these similar yet distinct art forms of poetry and painting. PoArt serves as my primary style of art since 1993. Please enjoy this small selection.

"Split" ... Almost there ... split crowns ... frowns fighting for rights ... to be heard ... to feel palaces of security
with their abysmal fountains ... surprised with new tears ... asking why so many waves ... of seasons without conclusions
switching scents ... in a single breath ... or essences from tumbling leaves ... talking how
I want summer again ... multiplication tables ... kaleidoscopes
touching head to toes ... freedom to be bare ... clear thoughts
with those sharp changing emotion ... splitting personality.

Notice poArt signatures. The "t" of "Scot" is uniquely crossed and ends in the mouth of a face.

"Discovery" ... So I wiped away a smile ... a hungry care ... a stare ... then dropped into a pit
chained by fear ... every exit lost in time ... this three dimensions ... almost too much
caught in clouds of worthlessness ... never trying enough ... just dying each day .... like drops in rain
found in forgotten flames ... rose blossoms of passion ... wilting without purpose ... but here's the thorn
to turn around ... discover the self ... the front and rear of a soul.

For a short period I was writing poArt Parables with each poArt. Link here for a poArt parable!

"To Light" ... Leaves with sunset fires ... knife skies ... to cut into blissful minds ... capture caterpillar efforts
released ... undone ... bandaged ... sewn up like zippers of knowledge ... uncracked for wisdom
marrying our tongues ... tasting sand drops of times ... that mold silicon palaces ... just for diamond aches
until finally the rain ... of pure lighting ... (find us please)!

"Beyond Paint" ... Outside inside ... parched earth cries ... steering wheels brake ... curling toes
from painful pebbles ... wanting to paint ... a million red light rays ... floating in cloud couched thoughts
to forget about potato head bruises ... or wrinkled roots ... struggling to stretch ... just for another breath
to comprehend lines ... frames for endless geysers ... so come taste pure lakes
feather beds floating upon lunar tides ... taking us to a sun ... showing us how ... now!

[by Scot Aaron, 6-29-04, Salt Lake City]

"talkin bout it" ... First pure sadness ... then pure happiness ... too much to hold ... or try to grab
whose is this ... connection in time and space ... giving me more doors ... windows to soar
break through bandages ... roar ... bleed until bloodless ... filled in ... with chimes of light in minds
another eye everywhere ... places to see ... people to meet ... special again ... again
again special people ... with so many friends.

All poArt's from 1999 onwards include an additional painting with the handwritten poem.

"Confused Signs" ... Did I could I would I ... wish for wishes ... just to flow ... weave rivers into full oceans
where here there ... as people jump ... to moons ... and swim like dolphins ... taking hopeful tides inside
to transform pain ... into beams of light ... but is this real sunshine ... or just a reflection
what is real!
